Full Review of Pixelmon GO – Catch Them All. Never-Ending Thrill
It is not easy to find a game that is 100% unique. It seems like everything has been done from graphics to gameplay and features. This is probably why game developers are not shy to get inspiration from already existing games. A good example is Pixelmon Go. This game is clearly inspired by the leading app Pokémon Go. There are a few differences here and there, but the similarities are obvious. So, why would you play a game that is similar to one already in the market? Let’s find out if this app has anything special to offer.
The first step in this iOS and Android app is naming the character. Once this is done, you will have to navigate a map, catch a monster and go to battle with another player. The map is the first similarity that this game has with Pokémon Go. The other analogy you will notice between these two games is in battle. Just like in Pokémon Go, you will be using pixel cubes to try and capture the monster, and you’ll have a shrinking circle as well as an apple bait that are meant to increase your chances of catching the monsters.
Although the capturing mechanics are quite limited, they have all the essential features, and there is hope for the game as you watch to see whether your prisoner will manage to escape your cube prison. In total, there are 60 pixelmons that you have to explore in your area. The great thing about this iOS and Google Android app is the fact that the duplicates are not useless. The game includes a training mechanic that allows you to combine all the available duplicates with Pixelmon dust to get greater ratings for monster battle power. These increased ratings are crucial, especially when you decide to take part in a multiplayer battle. These battles can take place anywhere you want. All you have to do is to press the fight button and begin looking for an opponent. Once you have chosen an opponent, you will be given a chance to select three strong fighters for the battle which gets completed in the background.
As you can see, there are very few reasons why you’d want to play this game over Pokémon Go, but there are certain instances where it seems like the better option. A good example is the magic boot feature which allows you to navigate your surroundings without necessarily having to move physically. It’s perfect for situations where your mobility is restricted. This is one of the features you will not find in Pokémon.
As far as graphics go, I think this app for iPad, iPhone, iPod touch and Android also has the upper hand. The game is more pixelated, and in my opinion, the graphics are better and more defined for this game. The controls are also excellent. They respond very well, and I love that they aren’t too many control features. This enables you to focus solely on the gameplay.
This App Store and Google Play app for monster capture is free, but it features several in-app purchases. The only items you will be required to purchase are the Pixelcoins which can be used to buy things like the motion boost feature. The price of the coins ranges from $0.99 to $49.99. These purchases are handy because they allow you to access different battle advantages, but they are not really necessary. You can play the game without the items and still enjoy it.
Is It Worth It?
Pixelmon Go – Catch Them All might be similar to Pokémon Go, but it has a lot of different features and battle abilities to offer that you will not get in the latter. It is also quite addicting. I play it for hours non-stop, and I can never get enough of it. I honestly prefer it to Pokémon and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for something different, exciting and engaging. It is really worth it. You can also expect it to get even better because the developers are constantly updating it with improvements. Get the latest version now on the App Store or Play Store.
