According to Dominykas Koncevičius, the designer of the Christmas Tree 2021, this year’s concept was inspired by last winter, which was exceptionally white, cold, and frosty. Therefore, this year’s Christmas tree has the exact reproductions of real snowflakes, which are magnified a thousandfold and turned into intricate atmospheric sculptures.

The Christmas tree is installed end of November and  illuminated on the opening day of the Christmas market until January 6 (the day of the Epiphany). It has a second life since its trunk is traditionally used as a "Maypole" a large mast on which ribbons are hung and which is erected to celebrate the foliage (the return of the leaves on the trees and the sunny days.
